A new funding call under Horizon 2020 was approved for Energy Efficiency projects with a total budget of EUR 194 million for 2016 and 2017. The eligible projects types are Research & Innovation, Innovation and Coordination & Support and eligible project activities should target consumers, buildings, heating & cooling, industry, products & services, finance for sustainable energy.
Horizon 2020 has opened the first topics with a deadline on 21st of January 2016:
EE-04-2016-2017: New heating and cooling solutions using low grade sources of thermal energy
EE-05-2016: Models and tools for heating and cooling mapping and planning
EE-07-2016-2017: Behavioural change toward energy efficiency through ICT
EE-08-2016: Socio-economic research on consumer’s behaviour related to energy efficiency
EE-17-2016-2017: Valorisation of waste heat in industrial systems (SPIRE PPP)
For each proposal the Commission estimates as viable a grant request of EUR 2.5 – 5 million for Research & Innovation and Innovation projects and between EUR 1 – 2 million for Coordination & Support projects. The application process is a single stage one and activities such as feasibility studies and development of products/services can be deployed within the same project.
