EEA & Norway grants in Portugal – First call launched with 14.2 million euro for Blue Growth
More than 14 million euro is available for SMEs and large enterprises on the Portuguese market via the ‘Business, Development, Innovation and SMEs’ programme under the EEA grants. The programme will be operated by the Directorate General for Maritime Policy (DGPM). The main objective of the call is to increase the competitiveness and sustainability for Portuguese companies within the focus area of Blue Growth, along with enhancing the cooperation between Portuguese enterprises and those from the Donor States (Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein).
The current call aims at providing funding for enterprises in Portugal to develop, apply and commercialize innovative products and technologies as well as to promote cooperation between enterprises and research institutions to foster user-driven research-based innovation (TRL 4 – 9). Portuguese enterprises can apply for minimum Euro 200,000 and maximum Euro 500,000 per project. Each organisation can submit only one application under each open call.
Funding intensities up to 70%. Eligible partners are public or private entities, commercial or non-commercial, NGOs, etc. 75% of the budget will be allocated to SMEs. The cooperation between research institutions and SMEs in order to facilitate commercialization of innovative ideas, products and processes is encouraged.
Eligible sectors are: fish and seafood transformation industry; commercial ports; ocean renewable energy sector; maritime industry, including innovative maritime transport technologies; maritime digitalization; off-shore infrastructures; robotics related to marine and maritime technologies; technologies for deep sea resources and mapping; shipbuilding and shipping (development of innovative products and technologies); blue biotechnology; nautical tourism; environmental monitoring and surveillance activities.
The deadline of the call for proposals is 30 September 2019, 12:00 Portuguese time (GMT+1).
