EEA & Norway Grants – EUR 184.5 million allocated to the Czech Republic

The Czech Republic will get EUR 184.5 million under the EEA & Norway Grants 2014 – 2021, being one of the 15 Beneficiary States across the EU in this new funding cycle, to have signed the Memorandum of Understanding with the Donor States (Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein).

Out of the total budget, almost EUR 43 million will be dedicated to the private sector, via two major programmes:  Research (EUR 35.3 million) and Education (EUR 7.6 million).

Under the Research programme, the main programme areas are Business Development, Innovation and SMEs, which will aim to support increased value creation and sustainable growthThis programme will be managed by the Ministry of Finance in cooperation with Research Council of Norway (NFR).

Under the Education programme, the main programme areas are Scholarships, Apprenticeships and Youth Entrepreneurships which will aim to support the enhancement of human capital as well as of knowledge base at all levels of educationThis programme will be managed by the Center for International Cooperation in Education in cooperation with The Norwegian Center for International Cooperation in Higher Education (SIU) and the National Agency for Internationl Education Affairs (AIBA).

These programme areas open excellent opportunities for organizations in Donor State countries interested to partner on bilateral projects in the areas mentioned above, together with partners from Czech Republic.

Further programme areas of less direct relevance for the private sector are:

  • • Environment and Ecosystems, Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation
  • • Good Governance, Accountable Institutions, Transparency
  • • Cultural Entrepreneurship, Cultural Heritage and Cultural Cooperation
  • • Civil Society
  • • European Public Health Challenges
  • • Social Dialogues – Decent work
  • • Human Rights, Roma Inclusion and Empowerment, Domestic and Gender-Based Violence
  • • Correctional Services and Pre-trial Detention, Effectiveness and Efficiency of the Judicial System, Strengthening Rule of Law
  • • International Police Cooperation and Combating Crime

The total EEA & Norway Grants budget allocated to the Czech Republic, including the funds for Bilateral Relationship and Technical Assistance, amounts to EUR 195.9 million. 

 

Status of the EEA & Norway Grants 2014 – 2021 across Europa – The Donor States have already signed MoUs with 6 countries (Portugal, Estonia, Malta, Slovakia, Bulgaria and Romania). Further agreements with the remaining Beneficiary States are in progress and soon to be announced.
